If your children have a passion for sports, there is a good possibility that you have a basketball goal around the house. The shape of the backboard can differ from oval to square and also the size can run from forty four inches to as big as seventy two inches. Eco-friendly backboards are a possibility if you are into the “green” phase and treating the environment with respect. Plexiglas and real glass backboards are other common options for basketball stands. Depending on how much room you have in the backyard you could just use cement and put the basketball goal in the ground permanently. A permanent basketball stand is usually made with very durable materials and can cost well over the $2000 range.

There are many options available with how to mount a basketball goal. Certain brackets are ideal for using on a garage or on the side of a large wall. As a kid, we bought a house from a truck driver who build a 15 foot high garage for his semi-truck. We used a wall mounting bracket in order to attach a basketball hoop on the inside of the garage making our own indoor gymnasium. This was ideal in the winter months when it was cold and rainy inside. You can also purchase these types of goals with different backboard sizes as well. These types of basketball hoops are not as expensive as the portable basketball stands.
